Kybella is an FDA-approved, nonsurgical procedure that can be performed during a lunchtime visit to our med spa – or whenever it’s convenient for you. Derived from a naturally occurring substance called deoxycholic acid, Kybella injections help break down fat cells in your chin, which results in a more defined jawline and a noticeable reduction in the fullness that appears under your chin.
You don’t have to be overweight to have an unflattering double chin that makes you look older than you are. In fact, you may have a healthy lifestyle but are still unable to get rid of the excess fat under your chin. If that’s the case and you’re unhappy with the way your chin looks, Kybella is a recommended fat removal treatment worth considering.
Prior to undergoing Kybella treatment, you and your provider will discuss the look you’d like to achieve, as well as the number of injections and treatment sessions that will be required.
During treatment, which typically takes less than 30 minutes per session, you’ll receive multiple injections beneath your chin. There is little discomfort during the procedure and minimal, if any, downtime following Kybella treatment, although you may experience some swelling for three to five days.
Most clients will need two to four Kybella treatments, each performed at least one month apart. Although results may vary from one individual to the next, they are permanent. Kybella destroys the fat cells and your body flushes them out once they die. This means that you should not need any subsequent treatments once you have achieved your desired chin profile.
